About Tariq Ramadan and this lecture

In his lecture – The “Arab Spring” and the West: Actions and Expectations – Tariq Ramadan will speak on the recent political developments in the Middle East and North Africa, as well as the response from the West.

Tariq Ramadan is a highly distinguished Swiss-born intellectual, philosopher and writer. He is currently a Professor of Contemporary Islamic Studies in the Faculty of Oriental Studies at Oxford University, UK. Albeit involved for many years in the debate on Islam in the West and elsewhere in the world, it is as a political expert that Mr. Ramadan will address his audience this time.

CJPME believes that Prof. Ramadan’s lecture will help his Canadian audience better understand the upheavals in the Middle East and North Africa in their own context. CJPME also believes the lecture will help inform participants on how they can encourage greater freedoms in the region.
